Seattle’s Dusty 45s are proud to partner with DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center) for the 6th annual Gimme Shelter benefit concert on Friday, February 7 at Triple Door Seattle at 7:00 PM featuring The Dusty 45’s with special guests The Believers.
The Dusty 45s’ own Billy Joe Huels, who will emcee the show, has a special interest in helping end homelessness. Huels’ older brother, Matthew, spent years living on Seattle streets, and cycling through mental hospitals and jail before ending up in DESC housing. Once a successful businessman and world traveler, Matt was struck with schizophrenia in his early thirties.
Undiagnosed and untreated, the disease soon unraveled his once successful and happy life. Gimme Shelter is a tribute to Huels’ brother who, with the help and support of DESC, has overcome homelessness and is now able to manage his mental illness. Today Matt and nearly 1,000 other previously homeless members of our community are living stable, productive lives through DESC’s programs of permanent homes, on-sight support, clinical care, meals, and job training.
Proceeds from ticket sales go directly to DESC’s programs to end homelessness.
