The 20/20 Awards want you. Come to the Grand Illusion and partake in the screening of Cronos, a film written and directed by Guillermo Del Toro. We want to know if you think Cronos has stood the test of time.
“Official watchmaker to the Viceroy, Fulcanelli was determined to perfect an invention which would provide him with the key to eternal life. He was to name it… the Cronos device.” – Cronos
Cronos revolves around a small golden device that holds the key to eternal life. When it falls in the hands of Gris, he becomes an obstacle in the way of old and sick Mr. De la Guardia, who is desperate to obtain the device. The film was overlooked by the Academy, receiving not one Oscar nod.
Do you think this film deserved an Oscar nomination? Or did the Academy have good reason to not nominate the film? Come tell us at the Grand Illusion. Admission is free for 20/20 and Grand Illusion Members. $8 General public, $5 Students.
The 20/20 Awards views films through the perspective of time and annually re-evaluates films from 20 years prior. Benefiting from hindsight, a voting body of film industry professionals elects new and/or previous nominees. Then we host a live awards ceremony designed to both honor and offer new analytical perspectives on the impact of the 20 year old films, past cinema in general, and its influence on our present culture. It is our hope that this fresh analytical method brings a new voice to the films of the past.
