The Seattle St Patrick’s Day Festival and parade is just a few day away now. The parade was recognized by CNN as one of the “Five places to get your green on“. An estimated 20,000 people attend. Below are more pictures, the parade route, and info on the two day St Patrick’s festival.

Seattle Center Festal presents Irish Week Festival, March 16 and 17. Explore and experience the cultural roots and contemporary influences of Ireland through live performances, visual arts, hands-on activities, foods, games, and a lively marketplace. Irish tunes, step dancing and the Irish jig keep the energy flowing at this Irish Week Festival. Festival-goers may trace their roots in genealogy workshops, learn the Irish language and take in colorful cultural exhibits and contemporary Irish short films. Meet Irish celebraties; view Irish movies, cultural exhibits and demonstrations and have a “great craic” (gaelic for “a great times.”).

The Festival features booths selling Irish and Celtic products, non-stop Irish music, singing, dancing, workshops, lectures, cultural displays, children’s contests and activities, etc. Festival Highlights also include Genealogy Workshops, Irish Language Workshops, Cultural Exhibits and more. Family-oriented activities include wonderful Irish Musicians along with Champion Irish Stepdancers from around the Pacific Northwest. Events for children include the “Smilingest Irish Eyes Contest” and the “Most Irish-Looking Face Contest”, and other activities in the Children’s Activities Center. Contemporary Irish short films will be screened during our Irish Reels Film Festival (see schedule of films at www.irishreels.org).

Seattle’s 2013 St. Patrick’s Day Parade

12:30 pm, Saturday, March 16, 2013
starting from 4th Ave at Jefferson in downtown Seattle.

The Parade travels north on 4th Ave starting from Jefferson to the Reviewing Stand at Westlake Park, and officially ends at the Seattle Center with Closing Ceremonies at 2 PM. The Monorail will be free from 1:30 – 2:30 pm for travel from Westlake Park to the Seattle Center to participate in the 2013 Irish Festival.
