Seattle Fusion Festival promises to bring you an incredible event. Fantastic music, dancing, venues and people all mixed together for what will be an amazing not to be missed event!

Seattle Fusion Festival is the definition of fusion: the combination of the right elements of dance and music, at the right time, to create something awesome.

We’re taking inspiration from dance events like the Fusion Exchange, Emerald City Blues, and the various Recess events. But in the true spirit of fusion we’re adding in a little bit of theater workshops, music festivals, and sleepaway camp! Expect amazing dancers, DJs, and venues, perfect for offering workshops on technique and concepts of connection in both partner style and solo movement. There will be stimulation for the brain, too, with discussions and lectures on music composition, DJing, and protecting ourselves from injuries to engage us intellectually.

Unlike other fusion events, this one is uniquely Seattle. A number of really amazing people call Seattle home and we want to show you just what makes this city so special. For the locals, it’s a chance to open our homes and strut our stuff. For the visitors, it’s a chance to be treated like a guest and enjoy all we have to offer. We thought it was high time to introduce the country to some of the fantastic things we’ve got going on here in Seattle, while gaining inspiration from awesomeness that exists all over the US. This is a community driven event and at its core it’s an excuse for us, as a community of dancers, to get together and connect, share ideas, challenge each other, grow, and have fun!

What makes this event different from all the other events?
There are a number of things that make this event unique and different.  Take a minute and read the About pagefor more detail.

Is this Blues?
No!  While Blues are one of the many dance forms that are celebrated, and one of the music styles that will be heard this is not a Blues event!

I am a brand new dancer, is this event for me?
YES!!  Our workshops are filled with beginner friendly classes in a wide variety of styles and disciplines.  Take a minute and check out the Schedule and Class Description page for more detail.

I am a rockstar dance, is this event for me?
YES!!  There are a number of workshops that will challenge every level of dancer.  Take a minute and check out the Schedule and Class Description page.  Also…have you seen our DJ and Live Music line up?

I don’t’ like classes, but I love to dance.  Are there options for me?
Sure.  Most of our teachers will be offering private lessons if you want to work on your dancing outside of classes.  If you just want to come to the dances we are offering dance only passes for the entire event, and we will be selling tickets for individual dances at the door.

I’m really only a <insert dance here> dancer, will I get anything out of this event?  Should I come to the dances?
Absolutely.  You can take the classes and private lessons to expand your dances and learn some new moves to add to your repertoire.  Also, you will get challenged at the dances to dance to a wide variety of music and you’ll get to dance with other amazing dancers from a wide variety of disciplines.

I’m flying in from out of town, what airport should I fly into?
The easiest airport to fly into is Seattle/Tacoma International airport.

I need housing help finding housing, what do I do?
Fill out our housing request form here, and our housing team will be in touch shortly.

Where is everything going to be held?
All over Seattle!  Check out our Venues page for more details.

Is there a competition connected with the event?
No, but we will have a Showcase Saturday night to allow dancers to show off a bit.  If you’re interested in being in it (limited to 8 couples), drop us an e-mail!

I’m broke, can you help me out?
Sure, check out our Volunteer information here.

Is there going to be food?
Nope.  Seattle has a number of amazing food options and we have specifically chosen our venues in areas that are filled with great food choices.  Think ahead and take care of yourself and your needs!  (also this helps us keep our costs really low)

Who is teaching at the event?
Check out our Teacher’s page here…it has all the details.

My dancing gets “better” after a few drinks…will alcohol be available at the dances?
No, we will not be providing alcohol in any way.  If you choose to imbibe please be responsible.

I’d love to take my girlfriend to this. She went to the Berklee College of Music and absolutely adores the arts. This would be a great new experience for me as well!

I love to dance, but I’ve never been very good. My girlfriend’s previous boyfriend was a really great dancer and I’m often burdened with the thought that I’ll never match up to his level. Will this give me the tools to become a perfect lead, thus curing my anxiety? Possibly… but probably not. Still, I’ll get to go dancing with my girl. That’s reason enough for me. :-)

I would love to learn some dance moves. I’m not a great dancer, but I love music.

I would love to attend the festival! I’m an avid tango & blues dancer and thoroughly enjoy mixing it up with whatever else people want to throw my way. I’ll dish it right back. Thrilled that such an event is taking place in Seattle, my home town.

My husband and I are unemployed and looking for something free to do together while we get a date this weekend since our kids are staying at grandparents for weekend. We’d love to win this. It sounds so fun.;)

I once taught tango classes with Ruth Hoffman in Indonesia and would love to cheer her on doing her thing. I am also the co-creator (with Aurora Nemirow) of pantamoose-fusion the only dance style to blend the range of pantomime with the majesty of the moose.
