The Kla Ha Ya Days Festival (KHYDF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that produces an annual local festival, to welcome people throughout Northwest Washington to celebrate the community’s beauty, and goodwill of Snohomish. Proceeds from the KHYDF’s activities support Snohomish-based community organizations with programs and services for youth and families.

The Kla Ha Ya Days Festival has grown to become one of the largest and most popular festivals in Northwest Washington, attracting attendees throughout the region who are environmentally conscious, health-focused, family-minded, and community-oriented. Its extensive selection of local arts and crafts complements an eclectic mix of over 300 antique dealers, diverse stores, restaurants, salons, bars, eco-friendly businesses, and art galleries along the famed Snohomish river.

Other festival highlights include four live music stages, street fair, frogtastic kids fair, all class reunion, truck war vendors, car/motorcycle show and two beer gardens. It includes activities where kids and parents play games, compete, dance, do art activities, and enjoy the days together.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Kla Ha Ya Days Festival is to promote the vibrant creativity that makes Snohomish, Washington so unique. The goal is to raise funds to reinvest back into the community to support youth and families. The event is produced through the generous support of volunteers and local merchants associated with KHYDF

VISION

To have the Kla Ha Ya Days Festival  be a valuable arm of the community to attract new families and businesses. To promote the youth and character of the city. To have an attendance of over 100,000 people with an increase revenue of over a million dollars to the community.

Events

CARNIVAL – Wednesday July 18th – Sunday July 22nd

The Davis Amusement Carnival kicks off the Festival on Wednesday opening at 5pm at Harvey Field and is open throughout the Festival weekend.

KID’S BIKE SAFETY RODEO – Friday July 20th

Kid’s Bike rodeo from 3 – 5 pm at Snohomish Station Village; bike helmet give-away (while supplies last) – come and show your stuff on your bike.

5 MILE RIVER RUN & KID’S DASH – Saturday 8:00 am July 21st

Join the Kla Ha Ya Festival and bring the family for the week-end of fun!  5 mile run is through the streets of Snohomish out and back along the river. 1 mile run/walk flat course through downtown Snohomish with the Kid’s dash immediately following the last runner. Awards for 1st thru 3rd overall and by division. Random prize drawing for all participants. Kid’s Dash not timed as all are winners and all will get prizes.

BBQ COMPETITION Saturday July 21st and Sunday 22nd

This BBQ competition will be a 2 day barbeque cook-off located in the parking lot of the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club. The barbeque event will be sanctioned by the KCBS(Kansas City Barbeque Society) as a full qualifying event. The competitors will have the opportunity to compete in four main categories, two side categories, a people’s choice award, best booth, Back Yard Grilling Competition and a Kid’s Que.

STREET FAIR – ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL – Saturday July 21st  and Sunday 22nd
You can follow your nose to First Street to our Taste of Snohomish food vendor booths on Saturday and Sunday  until about 6pm. While the restaurants compete with each other to tantalize your taste buds, a fantastic street fair will be displaying some of the best shopping around. And should you manage to shop your way through the nearly 100 crafts and commercial booths there are still dozens of great shops and restaurants to keep you going. The street fair is located on historic Union, Glen, Pearl and Cedar Streets  in Downtown Snohomish, already famous for it’s fabulous antique stores and boutiques. Lots to see and do for the whole family!

KLAHAYA DAYS PARADE – 10:30am Saturday July 21st
Snohomish’s grand tradition continues in the morning. Our Drill Team competition attracts the areas finest. Kid’s Parade in front – come in costume; make your own float; decorate your bike, trike or wagon; or just come as you are!!  Fun for everyone! Picnic along the parade route on First Street starting at Avenue D heading east to Willow Street. Average spectator attendance 15,000. BED RACES – Saturday July 21st
These beds are not made for sleeping, so if you snooze you loose! This hilarious timed contest pushes each team of four pushers and a sleeper to be the fastest to complete their 3 fun filled stations along the way to the finish line. SILLY CONTESTS – Saturday July 21st
Lot’s of fun for everyone! There are silly contests to suit every family member from baby to grandparents. Make sure to join in one or more. Feeling hungry? Kla Ha Ya Days has the most delicious contests around! Enter the pie eating contests and fill up on Snohomish Pie Company’s best. It’s worth a case of brain freeze to compete in the Snohomish Ice Cream eating contest! Or maybe you know the best watermelon eater cherry pit spitter in the Pacific Northwest? Kla Ha Ya Days is where to go! Other contests include the Baby Crawl Race, Bed races and more. Plan on signing up now! 

KIDS SAWDUST TREASURE HUNT  – Saturday July 21st

Saturday 2pm to 4pm. Up to 8 years of age. At First and Avenue “C”. Sponsored by Fred Meyer.

FROG JUMPING CONTEST – Saturday July21st -2 pm
Absolutely, the perennial favorite among children and adults alike, this is largest and longest running Frog jumping contest in the Northwest. Saturday on the corner of First & Ave B. Average number of participants 250. All frogs provided by Festival due to regulations no personal frogs allowed to compete.  To expedite registration CLICK HERE for entry form and bring with you.

SALMON BARBEQUE- Saturday July 21st and Sunday July 22nd, 12 noon – 8 pm
A “don’t miss” event at Hill Park on 16th and Park – drive up to the park. Enjoy the Salmon meal for $12.00 per person ($10 for seniors and $5 for kids) presented by the Snohomish Tillicum Kiwanis Club.

OLD FASHIONED FIREFIGHTERS PANCAKE FEED  – Sunday July 22nd, 7 am – 11 am
Sponsored by Snohomish Professional Firefighters Local 2694. Proceeds benefit Public Education Fund. Event will be held at Snohomish Station.

CUSTOM & CLASSIC CARS SHOW  – Sunday July 22nd, 10 am – 4 pm-Fred Meyer Parking Lot, 2801 Bickford Ave., Snohomish
Over Two Hundred Fifty of the finest Rod, Custom and Classic Cars from around the Sound will assemble for the nostalgia of this annual Rod and Custom Car Show & Shine. Quarter Midget cars are on display. Over 5 Million Dollars worth of beautiful cars, antique shops, music and booths attract an average of 12,000 spectators.
