Redmond Derby Days | Music, Food, Beer, Wine, Carnival, Fireworks, & More

The yearly Redmond Derby Days Summer Festival is so much more than cycling and running — although there’s plenty of that, too! This 3-day city tradition has been going strong since the Depression, and includes a carnival, kids’ zone, live entertainment, beer and wine gardens, a parade, and of course, a grand fireworks finale!

Redmond Derby Days celebrate its 72nd anniversary in 2012! A summer tradition that came to life at the end of the Depression, it began as a drive to raise money for downtown holiday decorations and school athletic equipment. The Redmond Bicycle Derby was the outgrowth of a small town’s community spirit and is now the nation’s longest running bicycle race. It includes activities for young and old.

KIDS PARADE (10am START)

Decorate your wheels, yourself, your parents and pets and join the festivities. Get creative! Since the first Derby Days Kids Parade in 1940, the community’s children have decked out their wheels and come to the parade. Decorate your bike, trike, scooter or skates and join the fun. It needn’t be fancy! Remember, everyone is invited so get the whole family in the act.

Every child who participates and wears a helmet will receive a prize of two dollars courtesy of Clark, Raymond and Company, and Kempf and Company. Make sure you arrive on time so you can take advantage of all the pre-parade fun at Redmond Medical Center.

After strutting your stuff along the .3 mile parade route, check your “wheels” for $2 at the Boy Scouts Bike Check-In, just behind Redmond City Hall. Spend the day enjoying the Criterium Bike Races live music, entertainment, food and games.
