Seattle – Glitz, artistry, and festivities are coming to the Burke Museum for our new exhibit, ¡Carnaval! Get in the Carnival spirit and attend a variety of events and activities for all ages.
¡Carnaval! Opening Celebration: Opening Programs
Sat., October 1, 12 – 4 pm
¡Carnaval! Opening Programs include talks on the Carnival music of Vienna and Trinidad accompanied by live performances, Carnival craft activities for the whole family, and a slide show of Carnivals from around the world from an award-winning travel photographer. Opening Programs are included with museum admission and are free for Burke members. See our website for a complete schedule.
¡Carnaval! Opening Celebration: Masquerade: a ¡Carnaval! Celebration
Sat., October 1, 7 – 9 pm
The Burke Museum will reopen for a spirited evening featuring the live music of Brazil, Trinidad, and Vienna. Festive attire strongly encouraged! Make your own accompanying mask and costume pieces. Light refreshments will be served. Entry to the Masquerade Celebration is a benefit of membership, non-members are invited to attend for a $25 fee.
¡Carnaval! Event: Arts Crush: Carnival Masks at the Burke
Sat., October 8, 10 am – 2 pm
Mask-making and Carnival at the Burke Museum! Explore our new exhibit ¡Carnaval! and create a festive Carnival mask to take home. Pay what you can.
¡Carnaval! Event: ¡Carnaval! Weekend Activities
Weekends, October 1, 2011 – January 8, 2012
Join us for ¡Carnaval! weekly workshops at the Burke Museum. Children and adults are invited to make their own Carnival masks, props, and costumes in the exhibit. All workshops are free with Museum admission. Take home your own special interpretation of ¡Carnaval! Check the Burke Museum website for a complete schedule.
